PARENTING (part 1)
How to inspire manners in your children
The home is the first school for the child. It is the laboratory where practical activities take place on daily basis. The Child learns every second, every minute, every hour and every day.Children being who they are learn by imitating their parents in the home. Consciously or unconsciously, the child learns by example. They imitate their parents every inch in the home. Like a typical student, they are also curious to know and understand the "whats", the "whys" and the ...??? Whatever they learn shape their psyche and conduct on daily basis; they get inspired by what pleases them and tend to ask questions on what appears vague and questionable.
To inspire manners in your children, here are few tips:
1. When entering the house greet your children or even hug them. This should help develop their sense of love and self worth.
2. Be good to your neighbours and never backbite. Never speak ill of other drivers when on the road. Your children listen, absorb and emulate.
3. When calling your parents, encourage your children to speak to them. When visiting your parents take your children with you. The more they see you take care of your parents the more they will learn to take care of you.
4. Read to them a short story and even a scripture a day – it doesn't take much time, but very impactful in creating strong bonds and wonderful memories.
5. Comb your hair, clean your teeth and wear presentable cloths even if sitting at home and not going out for the day. They need to learn that being clean and tidy has nothing to do with going out!
6. Try not to blame or comment on every word or action they say or do. Learn to overlook and let go sometimes. This certainly builds their self-confidence.
7. Ask your children's permission before entering their rooms ; don't just knock and enter. They will learn to do the same when attempting to enter your room.
8. Apologize to your children if you make a mistake. Apologizing teaches them to be humble and polite.
9. Don't be sarcastic or make fun of their views or feelings, even if you "didn't mean it" and "was only joking". It really hurts.
10. Show respect to your children's privacy. It's important for their sense of value and self-esteem.
11. Don't expect that they will listen or understand the first time. Don't take it personal ; be patient and consistent.
12. Pray with them. Show them how to pray. Lead by example.
Remember the Biblical injunction that says
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord- Ephesians 6:1-4
OBJECTS OF SIN IN THE HOME : Parental Seduction
Beware of objects of sin in the home! I call it Parental Seduction. It comprises a whole lot of things, actions and attitudes that predispose a child to different vices of immortality in the home. They include, but not limited to, nude pictures, adult magazines and videos, sexual acts between parents in the presence or neighbourhood of children, to mention just a few.
These elements, to a large extent, affect the way children see the opposite sex in curiosity to know more and "see more". It may further degenerate into addiction such as masturbation, nymphomania, underage and teenage sex as they grow up . Apart from those elements mentioned above, most times, parents, especially mothers often expose part or all of their nakedness in the presence of their children. This could make the children crave for the nakedness of other ladies or women outside. The common saying, "What I hear I may forget, but what I see I can never forget", cannot be far from reality.
Let us ponder on the following passages of the scriptures :
i. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart- Matthew5:27-28.
ii. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death- James1:15.
Continual exposure of your body to your son, as a mother, builds a sensual (sexual) image on his mind. This may eventually degenerate to sexual sins. Fathers, try also to be modest in the presence of your daughters, as they grow up; you may never know what reflexes this translates to their moral values.
As parents, I pray we would not be a stone of stumbling to our children; the grace and wisdom to lead and guide them aright, may the Lord bestow on us as parents, in Jesus' mighty name.
Remember, with Christ on our side, victory is sure!

What is fasting? Fasting is the voluntary abstinence
from physical food and/or drink in order to attain spiritual fulfillment. It is
a time of separation to study God’s Word, elevate our faith and pray according
to His will/word so that He alone receives all the glory. It is a time of
solemn meditation and gathering among God’s people to cry with one voice and
faith unto the LORD for a miraculous visitation- Joel1:14. Fasting is a
decisive intention not to partake of physical food because your spiritual
hunger is high or deep. It is not hunger strike; fasting without prayer is
hunger strike!
Why do we fast? Certain feats would not be achieved
without fasting and prayer-Mk9:29,
Mt17:14-21. Fasting builds our faith and confidence to achieve and make the
impossible possible. Calamities are averted, deliverance and healings come, mountains
are surmounted and blessings are released- Jonah3:1-10, Acts12:5-11.
In the
season of fasting and prayer, as we condition our mind and avoid unnecessary
distraction, the Holy Spirit helps us to pray aright and pray with the right
intentions- Rm8:26, James4:3. He helps us to pray for results that bring glory
to His name alone. The more you are concerned about praying for the church of
God, the more God will be concerned about you or your situation. So, fast with
the right motive and pray as appropriate, by His grace.
As we all,
in the unity of faith and Spirit of Christ, prepare to fast and pray for the
advancement of God’s kingdom, your life and everything that pertains to you
will advance, in Jesus’ mighty name. God will perfect that which concerns you
all-round, by His grace.- Prov11:25, Psa138:8.

promises, until you see it happen. It is verbalizing what you believe will come

MORE THAN CONQUERORS
Whao! It's another year 2017!
All glory, praises and adoration with thanksgiving to Almighty God for His unfailing grace upon our lives, family, business and all-round pursuits. That we are alive, hale and hearty today, is by His great grace; for this, if not for any other reason, I think it will not be out of place to join the innumerable celestial and terrestrial trains in the echoes of worship and jubilation unto our God. Halleluiah!
We were faced with diverse challenges in the year- challenges of faith, hitches and barriers, but the LORD saw us through. Great is His faithfulness! As a nation, political unrest, economic and security challenges stared us (and still does) in the face with attendant ripples in different quarters. But glory to our heavenly Father for the grace to overcome ...in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us- Rom.8:37. So, let us celebrate, jubilate and appreciate Him for everything.
By His grace, this year is a year of supernatural renewal, a year of renewal of all that is necessary for you to succeed, spiritually, financially, family-wise, business-wise,… and what have you?- Isa.40:29-31. Though your best effort, well-channeled towards your goals and aspirations, is essential here, but you need to learn to depend on God to perfect everything in due course- Psa138:8, Deut32:4. We also need to search ourselves and make amends where we have erred in the past- Lam3:40; we need to trust in His unfailing strength to overcome our weaknesses, just as we apply His wisdom and precepts- 2Cor.12:9, Prov.4:5-9, Eccl.9:18.
This year 2017, as you do your best and leave the rest to God, He will surprise you for good; He will change your story, renew your life, your strength and your testimony from glory to glory, in Jesus’ name. Just take your time, write down your goals(Habb2:2-3), work and walk steadily with your goals; run but do not run ahead of purpose nor try to cut corners.
I pray the Almighty God will see you through and your testimony will know no bound. Divine provision, promotion, breakthrough, healing, deliverance and other spiritual blessings, are our birthright in Christ; these will be recorded in every area of your life this year, in Jesus’ name! (Amen). Always remember, we are more than conquerors!
